The effervescent and local resident Kim Veale is delivering a workshop over two consecutive Saturdays in April. Based on the global phenomenon of Social Enterprises she will inspire the entrepreneurial spirit in you to take the plunge with your unique business idea.
Social Enterprises go further than philanthropy or just having a social orientation with the business activities. It is eco-balancing, embracing life cycle assessment of products and making a positive return to society across the whole organisation.
Although still in its infancy, there are some great examples of social enterprises in Perth including Dismantle which operates a bike repair service to office workers in the CBD and redirects all net profits to engagement programs for at-risk young people in WA and Kim’s own “Organic Waste Solutions” which collects food waste from office buildings, to feed its worm farms and distributes the resulting quality fertilizer to community gardens to grow fresh produce.
Kim is a qualified trainer and a business mentor with the global School for Social Entrepreneurs and the Town of Bassendean is hosting her successful workshop – How to build a GOOD business – good for people, good for the planet and good for profit – at the Bassendean Memorial Library on the 11th and 18th April 2015. If you have a passion to do something positive in the world and you have a business idea, now is an opportunity to develop that idea and combine economic profit with purpose.
