RailFest 2012

Train enthusiasts from far and wide will be gathering at the Bassendean Railway Museum on Sunday 14 October for the annual RailFest.  As the only railway museum in Western Australia it boasts a magnificent collection of vintage rolling stock, restored federation carriages, miniature trains and whole range of books and videos.

The museum is open every week on Sundays and Wednesdays, but at the Railfest they all get scrubbed up to meet you, they offer tours behind the scenes, swap meet stalls, there is a bbq, you can meet some of the authors and see the model trains going full steam ahead.

When you get up close to some of these old engines their sheer size is quite impressive.

  1. Hi All, just checking your website to see if your doing another railfest this year? If so could please email me the evnt details please.
Thanks very much and kind regards.

    • Hi Neil, I’ve followed up your query. This year it is on Sunday 13 Oct. This is the last Sunday of the school hols. They assure me the popular attractions including the Lego train people are coming back and they are addressing parking issues by having buses link up with the train station and ferry people down. Maybe, they might have the Vintage buses getting in on the fun! Fingers crossed. They’re web site is:http://www.railheritagewa.org.au/
